In order to ensure I am developing effective, science based programs for my clients, I have pursued the following certifications.

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

The CSCS certification program - managed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association - covers all things strength and conditioning related.  It is currently the “gold standard” in the industry.

Certified Personal Trainer & Performance Enhancement Specialist

The Certified Personal Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist certifications are offered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. These certifications provided the foundation of my knowledge base.  The P.E.S was particularly influential  with its  heavy emphasis on functional movement protocols, and corrective strategies.  The National Academy of Sports Medicine has developed a body of literature that is thoroughly sound.  They utilize a rational series of guidelines based on systematic progressions and regressions for clients and athletes based on their current abilities.  The P.E.S. has given me a depth of insight, that I did not have before.  It has greatly influenced the way I approach my job.

PTA Global

I’m currently working on a new certification, managed by PTA Global.   It is a  new and innovative approach to developing fitness programs.  PTA Global has brought together the best and brightest minds in the industry from across the globe to present on different topics.   Thomas Meyers’ book, Anatomy Trains serves as PTA Global’s text in their advanced module.  This book alone, has heavily influenced my approach to movement therapy and training.  The various presenters have been excellent and extremely enlightening.  Several of the sections address thought processes and behavioral patterns.  Turning  discussion towards behavior and current concepts of neural-plasticity, was for me,  essential in my evolution as a coach.  The body follows where the mind goes…
